It’s been long since I’ve ever heard or watched them play. I remembered that they were under great guidance from Mr. Tan, who focused on the musical aspect of, well, music just as much as The Man did. I remember the trademark sound, the trademark musical contours, the trademark movements of the band (evidence that the band is following the conductor and the music).

Two years later, these have changed. The Robot took over, converted the band into an army of robots. Those who resisted the regime were shown no mercy (okay, exaggerating), so in the end, well, all of them became Robot Performers.

The performance pretty much disappointed us seniors from the ’07 batch. It’s not that they are no good, yknow. In fact some of their technicality, under the Robot Regime, are much more well-programmed than their predecessors a few years back. It’s just that, the magic feeling’s gone. Even the School Song and Band Cheer was done in low spirits (compared to previous years).

Just what happened to the Catholic High School Symphony Band that all of us used to know?
